In Istanbul the sit in goes on while in Ankara the pensioners were prevented by police to put up tents

The sit-in organized by pensioners in Istanbul will end today at 12. Meanwhile yesterday pensioners have been prevented by police to demonstrate in Ankara. The protest was organized to ask for a rise in pensions and against the new social security law (SSGSS).

Retired Workers Trade Unions had launched the sit-in action simultaneously in Ankara and Istanbul. The pensioners put up their tents for the action in the traditionally used for demonstration park, Guvenpark in Ankara. The tents have been confiscated by police from Ankara Police Department.

The new law has been criticized because it basically turns patients into clients for hospitals while at the same time making tests payment nothing shorter than a 'robbery'.

Pensioners have been supported by other parties and trade unions in Ankara like CHP (Republican's People Party), EMEP (Labour Party) and DISK (Revolutionary Confederation Union).

Pensioners did not give up and staged the sit without the tents.
