Eight days have been left behind by the indefinite and non-alternate hunger strike of 169 political prisoners in prisons of Turkey and Kurdistan.
The action by prisoners demands freedom for Kurdish people's leader Öcalan, assurance of education in mother language and an end to political and military operations against the Kurdish people.
Among the prisoners on hunger strike in Diyarbakýr D and E-Type Prisons, Mardin E-Type Prison, Elbistan E-Type Prison and Bitlis E-Type Prison are also Peace and Democracy Party (BDP) Þýrnak MPs Selma Irmak and Faysal Sarýyýldýz.
On the other hand, the death fast of political prisoner Adnan Titiz continues in Tekirdað F-Type Prison No 1. It is reported that Titiz will continue his protest unless the isolation and visit ban on Öcalan are removed.
