International support grows for the hunger strike that began in Strasbourg 5 days ago for the immediate clarification of Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan’s condition as well as the recognition of Shengal.

International support grows for the hunger strike that began in Strasbourg 5 days ago for the immediate clarification of Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan’s condition as well as the recognition of Shengal. Shengal Diaspora Assembly’s hunger strike continues in the La Trés-Sainte-Trinité Church of Esplanade, Strasbroug despite the hot weather.

People of Kurdistan from countries such as Switzerland, England and Germany have been visiting the participants of the hunger strike since this morning. Organizing committee member Sezai Uçar stated that the hunger strikers’ morale is high and thousands of people have showed support so far.

Uçar noted that doctors have been examining the hunger strikers regularly and there has not been any health complication so far.

Shengal Diaspora Assembly administrators Fikret İgrek, Beşir Ezidi, Kahraman Bedirxan, Çavreş Hesen, Peş İmam Ekrem and Bozo Bacini have been on a hunger strike continuously for 5 days, and 5 Êzidi and Democratic Alevi Deferation (FEDA) members and 4 Alevis have been supporting the hunger strikers as they carry out another hunger strike on rotation. 5 people from the European Êzidî Federation, Kurdistan Islamic Movement (CÎK), Democratic Union Party (PYD), Kurdistan Free Life Party (PJAK) and Mesopotamia Culture and Arts Movement (TEV-ÇAND) will also be showing solidarity and carrying out a hunger strike on rotation every week.
