Iran closes border gates after attack

Two border gates leading to southern provinces in Iraq have been closed down in Iran following the attack against the military parade in Khuzestan capital Ahvaz.

According to Iraqi media, Iran has closed down the Shalamcheh Border Gate in Basra and Ash Shib Border Gate in Maysan following the attack against the military parade citing security concerns.

The media says Iranian officials have increased security precautions in the border regions in case of another attack, closing down the border gates for individual and commercial purposes “temporarily”.

According to official news agency IRNA, at least 24 people were killed in the attack in Ahvaz, while at least 53 others were wounded.
