Iraqi Defence Minister Juma Inad announced that a brigade would be formed to protect the Kurdistan Region and the border with Turkey, and that the main base of the brigade would be in Hewler.
The DefenceMinister told the Iraqi news agency that Iraq would form a border defence brigade to be stationed along its border with Turkey.
Inad stated that a base would be built in Hewler (Erbil) for the brigade and a budget of 72 billion Iraqi dinars had been allocated for its establishment.
“Military vehicles and equipment will be provided for this brigade. Until now, there have been no federal troops in the Kurdistan Region,” he said.
The Turkish state keeps bombing the Kurdistan Region on a daily basis and occupies the Kurdistan Region in cooperation with the ruling party, KDP. Civilians suffer the most from the Turkish assaults.
