Acting upon a request by Turkey, an Israeli committee carried out a survey on the South Kurdistan border of Þýrnak and Hakkari between 12 and 17 May. It has been reported that the committee gathered information about the new army posts being built on the Kurdistan border, where the number of military build-ups is increasing day by day. The committee was composed by four members; an engineer, two soldiers and a civilian.
MILITARY POSTS VISIT
The investigation was carried out on the border on Þemdinli, Çukurca, Uludere, Beytüþþebap, Yüksekova. It was noted that the committee visited the military army posts on the border accompanied by Turkish soldiers. The committee spent the night at Þýrnak Officers’ Club. Before leaving Þýrnak, on May 17th, the committee continued its survey on the border by helicopter.
MEASUREMENTS ON THE BORDER
Local sources informed ANF that the committee made measurements across the border and shared the information with Turkish soldiers. It has been claimed that the Israeli committee gathered information about the places where new guard-posts are still under construction and examined the recently-built army-posts on Çukurca line.
BUFFER ZONE?
The news come after another report by ANF about the creation of an operational buffer zone on the 250 km’s Hakkari, Çukurca, Yüksekove and Þemdinli border with Iran and Iraq. New army posts and mobile units have been built in addition to the existing ones. The army posts on the border are scene of massive transfers in recent days.
