Italian Greens: Erdogan, hands off Kurdistan

The Greens said: “We demand to the Italian Government and the European authorities to take a stance on Turkey and to sanction Erdogan, if necessary, should he lift a finger on the Kurdish allies."

Italian Green party spokespersons, Elena Grandi and Matteo Badiali called on the Italian government and European institutions to stand beside Kurds.

Green Party spokespersons, Elena Grandi and Matteo Badiali, said: "We are facing one of the most complicated emergencies in the North of Syria, Rojava, the Kurdish autonomous administration region. Trump announced he will pull out from Syria precisely when DAESH and its ally, Turkey, decide to strike against their historic enemy, the Kurds."

Grandi added: "What will happen to the Kurdish fighters who, pay a very high price in terms of human lives, have contained DAESH, defended and liberated house after house, the cities occupied by DAESH?"

Grandi also said that “Turkey is forcing the US and Europe to choose between them and the Kurds, using its membership of NATO.  To forget of the Kurdish heroes and turn them in to Erdogan sounds like a cynical act of which Europe cannot be part."
