Journalist Ertuþ Bozkurt who was with many others arrested in the operations of political slaughter responded to PM Erdoðan on behalf of jailed journalists; ‘Who doesn’t prove his allegation is a calumniator’.
Sending a letter to ANF on behalf of jailed workers of Free Press, Bozkurt said that; “The Prime Minister has pointed us as a target with groundless allegations like ‘The jailed ones are not journalist, they are thief, bomber, murderer and rapers’. We would like to remind the Prime Minister of his own words which he uses very often; ‘A claimant is obliged to prove his allegation, he will otherwise be a calumniator’.
Ertuþ said the followings in his letter; “More than a hundred journalists in Turkey have been put in prison by means of Special Authorized Courts. The recent process has witnessed criticism about these unlawful arrests in both local and foreign public opinion. However, government officials who can’t tolerate even a slightest criticism perform new unlawfulness while responding to these criticisms. Prime Minister Erdoðan sees no harm in intervening in the judiciary by pointing us as a target on the basis of groundless allegations.
Using our right to not to remain silent against these allegations, we would like to ask the Prime Minister; Which of the jailed journalists has got involved in any ‘murdering’, ‘bombing’, ‘raping’ and ‘theft’ event? We ask you to explain and prove your allegations. If there is a kind of unlawfulness in question, it is the fact that our job has been stolen, our freedoms have been raped, inner consciences have been deadened and truths have been distorted.”
