A memorial event was organised in the French city of Toulouse to pay tribute to PKK (Kurdistan Workers’ Party) Central Executive Committee Member Kasım Engin and YJA Star (Free Women’s Troops) Commander Zin Avesta.

Kasım Engin (Ismail Nazlıkul) fell martyr on 27 May as a result of an airstrike carried out by the Turkish state, while Zin Avesta (Hafize Özdemir), a commander for the HPG and YJA Star, lost her life after suffering from cancer.

The event at the Democratic Kurdish Community Center began with a minute’s silence in memory of the martyrs of the Kurdish freedom struggle.

Speeches and poems paid tribute to Kasim Engin and a promise was made to remain loyal to his struggle.
