The Kurdish Democratic Societies Congress in Europe (KCDK-E) released a statement calling for strong participation this Saturday, April 23, in protests against the Turkish annihilation campaign in Kurdistan.
The background of the planned demonstrations in Europe, Canada and Australia is the military operation of the Turkish army in southern Kurdistan (northern Iraq), which started on April 17. "This attack targets the existence of our people. Those who remain silent about it support the occupation, the massacres and the policy of the Turkish colonial state aiming at genocide," the association stated in its urgent appeal on Thursday.
"The operation is aimed at stopping the Kurdish liberation struggle. However, we all know that the attack is aimed at all the achievements of the Kurdish people and at our future. The Turkish state has not been able to crush the liberation movement despite a wide range of dirty methods. The government is in a deep crisis due to economic, military, social and diplomatic problems, which it is trying to cover up with military victories," KCDK-E underlined.
KCDK-E pointed out that the Turkish state wanted to realize its neo-Ottoman ambitions through ISIS. “This dream failed because of the great resistance against the ISIS barbarism in Kurdistan. Today, the Erdogan government is relying on the KDP in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq to implement its expansionist plans.”
The association appealed to the Kurds in Europe to recognize the explosive nature of the current situation and to stand united against "genocide and betrayal": "The history of the Turkish state was written with genocides and its only goal is suffering and massacres. The collaborators it has used to crush Kurdish uprisings in the past were themselves eliminated each time afterwards. Its foundation is based on denial and annihilation and its enmity towards the Kurds runs so deep that even traitors are not safe from it. The only way out is resistance. Only in a united struggle can we protect our dignity and our country and guarantee Kurdistan a future. If we defend our achievements everywhere by all means, we can beat back the enemy."
