KCDK-E calls for participation in a vigil to be held at the scene in front of the Kurdish Cultural Centre until the three victims of the Paris attack are sent to Kurdistan.
The Congress of Kurdish Democratic Societies in Europe (KCDK-E) has issued a statement thanking all the people who showed solidarity and participated in the protests after the deadly attack in Paris. The protest will continue with a vigil at the Ahmet Kaya Cultural Centre. While the funerals of the three victims will take place in Kurdistan, the exact date has not yet been decided. A large farewell ceremony is planned in Paris before the transfer.
"The Turkish state has carried the massacres that have continued in Kurdistan to Europe. The massacre in Paris has taken place because the European states are silent about the massacres in Kurdistan and because those responsible for the assassination of Sakine Cansız, Fidan Doğan and Leyla Şaylemez on 9 January 2013 have not been investigated and the murders have been covered up," KCDK-E stated.
The statement continued: “The attack of 23 December triggered great anger, Kurds and people in solidarity flocked to Paris from all over Europe. Tens of thousands of people thus answered those who believe that the massacres committed by the Turkish state can stop the freedom march of the Kurdish people. They made it clear that this march cannot be stopped, and signalled to the French government that the struggle will continue without interruption until the full clarification of this massacre."
KCDK-E pointed out that the Kurds living in Europe spared no effort to take part in the demonstration against the second massacre committed by the Turkish state in Paris: "We thank our people and our friends who took part in the demonstration. However, this was only the beginning. We must continue our struggle everywhere until we get results. The attack in Paris was directed against our values, our institutions, our identity and our struggle. Therefore, we will hold a vigil for our martyrs at the scene in front of the Ahmet Kaya Cultural Centre until they are sent off to Kurdistan."
“The vigil is an obligatory duty that the memory of martyrs, the struggle for one's dignity and humanity demands, said the KCDK-E and concluded: "We call on our people and our friends to mobilise for the vigil and participate in the farewell ceremony for our martyrs to Kurdistan."
