The KCDK-E Foreign Relations Committee took over the Freedom for Öcalan Vigil in Strasbourg.
The Freedom for Abdullah Öcalan Initiative launched the Freedom for Öcalan Vigil on 25 June 2012 in Strasbourg, to demand the end of isolation against the Kurdish people's leader Abdullah Öcalan and his release.
The vigil has entered week 497 and has been taken over by a group consisting of the KCDK-E Foreign Relations Committee.
The group includes Asmin Engin, Turan Aydın, Dennis Storz and Eren Çelik.
Speaking on behalf of the group, Asmin Engin said that Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan has been held under the Imrali torture system for almost 23 years, under conditions never seen in human history.
Stating that the torture and isolation of Öcalan from the first day of the international conspiracy has been carried out together with the European states, which are the partners of the conspiracy, Asmin Engin pointed out that the Freedom Vigil is of historical importance.
Engin added that the Kurdish people exposed both the partners of the international conspiracy and the hypocrisy of these countries, which claim to be defenders of democracy and human rights. "If Europe is based on human rights and freedoms, it should take a long due step and end the isolation of Leader Apo. Europe must fulfil its duty towards humanity and the Kurdish people in a way that is appropriate."
Engin called on Kurdish people in Europe to join the action with more strength.
