KCK Executive Council Co-Presidency has released a statement on the anniversary of the Ankara massacre, commemorated the martyrs of democracy and stated that they “repeat the promise to defeat the genocidal fascistic forces and create the democratic Turkey and free Kurdistan”.

The statement reiterated that one year ago, an inhuman attack was made on the rally held by all forces of democracy for the fraternity of peoples and peace to end the fraternity of the peoples of Turkey and the Kurdish people and inhibit the common struggle for democracy, and continued: “We strongly condemn the perpetrators of this massacre once more, and repeat our promise to defeat the genocidal fascistic forces and create the democratic Turkey and free Kurdistan.”

The statement by KCK  Executive Council Co-Presidency continues as follows:

“This massacre has been committed to keep the AKP in power after they were made to retreat as a result of the common struggle of the peoples. This massacre has been committed as a joint venture between ISIS and AKP. Because the forces of democracy getting stronger means the defeat of AKP and ISIS, these two forces have planned and carried out this massacre to intimidate the forces of democracy and stop the peoples of Turkey and the Kurdish people from coming together. That this massacre was committed on the day the KCK declared inaction clearly shows that these forces have no other goal than crushing the forces of democracy and building a hegemonic authoritarian system in Turkey.

"THE OCTOBER 10 MASSACRE TARGETED THOSE WHO WAGE THE STRUGGLE FOR DEMOCRACY"

What the hegemonic powers fear most in Turkey is that the Kurdish people and the peoples of Turkey will come together and wage the struggle for democracy. They know very well that when this happens, Turkey will be democratized and the authoritarian fascist governments can not survive. To this end, they are employing all sorts of provocations and resorting to psychological war tactics in order to stop the Kurdish people and the democracy forces of Turkey from coming together. When the cooperation with Kurdish people is realized, they resort to massacres to punish those who want to cooperate with the Kuridsh people. The massacre of October 10 was committed to punish those who waged a common struggle for democracy with the Kurds.

Demanding peace and democracy in Turkey means demanding a free and democratic life for the Kurdish people. And this is the direst of crimes that one can commit in Turkey. As the AKP government has no policy for a democratic solution to the Kurdish issue, people who want the Kurds to live free and democratically have committed this dire crime and have been punished for it. The October 10 massacre was committed in this mindset and under these policies. Today all political tendencies in Turkey perceived as close to the Kurdish people’s struggle for freedom are targeted. This is evident when one looks at the character of the leftist forces and forces of democracy that are arrested in Turkey today. Likewise, those leftist forces or forces of democracy that steer clear of the Kurdish people’s struggle for freedom can be seen to do so to avoid the state’s rage.

The Ankara Massacre was committed to punish those in a common struggle with the Kurdish people. The people gathered in that square were punished for demanding an actual freedom, democracy and peace. Those massacred in Ankara were murdered because they defended the just peace, not the peace of the powerful. Those gathered in the Station square have taken their place in history as true defenders of democracy ,freedom and peace.

"DEMOCRACY, FREEDOM AND PEACE CAN ONLY BE ACHIEVED THROUGH THE SPIRIT OF OCTOBER 10 ANKARA"

Democracy, freedom and peace in Turkey can only be achieved through the spirit of October 10 Ankara. Peace in Turkey will be achieved if people go against the fascist AKP attacks with the spirit of October 10. Those gathered in Ankara Station on October 10 are the true patriots of Turkey. These true patriots are the ones who defend the unity of Turkey. The spirit of October 10 Ankara Station symbolizes the unity of Turkey, while the spirit of August 7 Yenikapı represents the fragmentation of Turkey and the authoritarian and hegemonic fascist character. The two spirits are direct opposites. When the spirit in the square in Ankara prevails over the spirit of Yenikapı, Turkey will be democratized and will achieve true unity.

With the fascist AKP government, Turkey is advancing step by step on the road to a fascist hegemonic authoritarian system. The Turkey imagined by the AKP fascism means genocide for Kurds and any and all different identities and beliefs, and a total disbanding for the forces of democracy. In this sense, the spirit of October 10 Ankara is a call for all forces of democracy to get together and fight together. Loyalty to the spirit of October 10 and the martyrs can only be achieved through the forces of democracy building a democracy front and fighting against the AKP government. If AKP has allied itself with all anti-democratic fascist forces, what the forces of democracy must do is to create alliances with all forces of democracy and fight together on this basis."

KCK ended its statement by commemorating the martyrs of democracy with respect and gratitude, and calling on all forces of democracy to come together with the spirit of October 10 and raise the struggle against the fascist AKP government.
