A group took the stage during the Premis Gaudi cinema awards in Barcelona, Catalonia to support the Rojava revolution.

The Gaudi Awards are given annually to promote Catalan cinema with a ceremony held in Barcelona.

During the award ceremony on Sunday, a group took the stage and chanted “Freedom!”

The young people took the stage after Catalan singer Roger Mas’s performance and held KCK and YPG flags to draw attention to the Rojava revolution. The action was broadcast live.

Two films swept through the awards in the festival. The film Entre Dos Aguas (Between Two Waters) by Isaki Lucuesta was awarded 7 out of the 9 prizes, including best director. Elena Trape’s film Les Distancies (The Distances) was awarded the best film prize.

The presenter Magician Lari also demanded freedom for all political prisoners. Catalan actor Serji Lopez said, “We are and always will be disobedient against injustice.”

Passola said: “There are politicians in prison and exile every year we are here. Long live freedom of speech!”
