KCK trial began in Diyarbakýr

The 36th trial of the main KCK (Kurdish Communities Union) case began at Diyarbakýr 6th High Criminal Court on 16 January morning. Including 104 arrestees, 152 Kurdish politicians stand trial for three years in the context of the so called KCK (Kurdistan Communities Union) operation. Among those standing trial are also deputies and mayors of the Peace and Democracy Party (BDP).

Defendants of the case at Diyarbakýr E and D-Type Prison were brought to Diyarbakýr Courthouse at early morning hours, escorted by armed police vehicles.

While mobile force took intense security measures around the courthouse, the attendees of the trial were searched in detail.

The earlier KCK trials have been adjourned so far because of the Kurdish defence crisis during trials. The demand of defendants to express themselves in their mother language Kurdish has so far been rejected by the court which further filed a criminal case against defendant as a reply to their demand for self-defense in Kurdish.
