KCK trial to resume on 9 January

The trial against over 150 Kurdish politicians and human rights activists in Diyarbakýr has been postponed to the 9 of January at the end of today's hearing. The so called KCK (Kurdish Communities Union) trial opened in

October last year and so far has failed to produce any concrete evidence of what the defendants actually stand trial for. The accusation is to be part of the KCK, which is considered by the judiciary some kind of urban wing of the PKK (Kuridstan Workers' Party). Indeed what the prosecutors are indicating as 'evidences' are common and normal political activities conducted in public by legally elected representatives of the people. It is to point out the absurdity of the accusations that thousands of BDP members and executives as well as local administrators have been turning themselves in at several courts around the country as part of the campaign named "We too are part of the KCK".
