The Kurdish Democratic Council in France (KDC-F) strongly condemned the interference by the Turkish government in the internal affairs of France and urged the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs not to give in to this attitude which undermines French sovereignty.
The statement by the KDC-F was issued after the Ambassador of France to Turkey was summoned by the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs following the presentation of a decoration to the commanders of the Women's Protection Units (YPJ) and the People's Protection Units (YPG) in the framework of a reception organized at the Senate on the occasion of Newroz, the Kurdish New Year.
The two Kurdish commanders were in France at the invitation of the Kurdish Democratic Council in France.
The distinction with which they were awarded testifies to the importance of the role played by the YPG and YPJ in the fight against ISIS in Syria. However, Turkey continues to interfere in the internal affairs of France and continues its policy of diplomatic harassment to force France to adopt an anti-Kurdish position.
