KESK (Public Service Union) general secretary Ýsmail Hakký Tombul stated that the police raid of the union offices was in connection with the action they are planning for 8 March International Women’s Day. Tombul pointed out that the detention of six women secretaries indicates that this is the main reason for the search and noted that the unions would make a joint statement in the coming hours after being raided.

Unions raided today by police were Confederation of Public Sector Trade Unions (KESK), Trade Union of Public Employees in Health and Social Services (SES) and Municipal Workers' Union (TÜMBELSEN).
