Kiziltepe Municipality under police occupation
X-ray scanners were placed by the entrance at HDP’s Kiziltepe Municipality, handing over control of who goes in and out of the municipality to the police.
X-ray scanners were placed by the entrance of the Kiziltepe Municipality on orders from the Interior Ministry after the HDP won the municipality back on March 31 local elections.
The AKP regime also put the police in charge of supervising entry and exit to the municipality.
The police arrived at the building in armored vehicles while Co-mayor Nilufer Elik Yilmaz was in a city council meeting. They set up the X-ray scanners and took control of the entrances.
Co-mayor Yilmaz and a committee accompanying her headed back to the municipality building upon hearing of the incidents.
X-ray scanners had been placed in front of HDP’s municipalities in Sirnak’s Cizre, Silopi and Idil districts as well on May 7.
