KON-MED calls on Kurds to participate in the march to be held in Lausanne on 22 July

KON-MED issued a statement to "invite all Kurds to participate in the march to be held in Lausanne on 22 July."

In a written statement, KON-MED co-chairs said: "We are entering the 100th anniversary of the agreement signed between the hegemonic forces of the time and the occupying Turkish state in Lausanne, on 24 July 1923. The Treaty of Lausanne, which divided Kurdistan into four, marked the beginning of a genocide against the Kurds. It was a cultural and physical genocide that has been going on for 100 years.

The statement added: "Sheikh Said, Seyit Rıza, Qazi Muhammed, Leyla Qasim, who were executed in different parts of Kurdistan, fought to overthrow the Lausanne order imposed on the Kurds. Amed, Zilan, Qocgiri, Dersim, Anfal, Mahabad, Qamishlo, Halabja are all massacres caused by the Lausanne order. They were the work of the states of Turkey, Iraq, Iran and Syria. Now we have to put a stop to this genocidal order!

Kurdistan is a people's garden in terms of different languages, cultures and ethnic structures. However, the Lausanne genocidal order attacks the Assyrian, Armenian, Alevi, Yazidi, Nusayri and other cultures living in Kurdistan. For this reason, these peoples, as well as the Kurds, are victims of the Treaty of Lausanne. People of different languages and cultures in Kurdistan should also say stop to the Lausanne genocide order!”

The statement continued: “Maps created 100 years ago have lost their meaning. The demand for status for Kurdistan will prevent the current genocidal order.

As Kurds living in Germany, we do not accept the fact that Kurdistan has no status.

We invite all Kurds to participate in the march to be held in Lausanne on 22 July 2023."
