KON-MED said that nobody should remain silent and called on “women, young people, faith institutions, left-socialist, revolutionary, democratic groups to mobilise 7 days a week, 24 hours a day.”
In a written statement the German Confederation of Kurdistan Communities-Civakên Kurdistan (KON-MED) called on people to join the demonstrations and actions to take place this weekend.
The statement issued by KON-MED said: "We can only breathe if we achieve international solidarity for the resistance. George Floyd said ‘I can’t breathe’ and so we say: Kurdish people can’t breathe. In Kurdistan, people are killed in the middle of the street because they listen to Kurdish music, they cannot even bury their dead and are deprived of their right to elect and be elected.”
KON-MED also reminded the " brave sacrifices of the people who are bombed every day” and paid tribute to Kasım Engin (Ismail Nazlıkul), PKK Central Committee member who fell martyr on 27 May 2020, as a result of the Turkish airstrikes.
