KON-MED holds its conference in Cologne and calls on members to increase fight against ban on PKK

KON-MED held its conference in Cologne and called on members to increase the fight against the ban on PKK and isolation in Imrali.

KON-MED held its mid-term conference in Cologne.

Hundreds of people attended the conference as well as Kurdish organizations in Germany. The conference started with a minute’s silence in memory of the martyrs of Kurdistan.

Co-chair Zübeyde Zümrüt made the opening speech and said: "This conference opposes the attempts to end the Kurdish Freedom Struggle both in Europe and in Kurdistan. We say from here that we are not finished, we will not end! Wherever we are, we will oppose the destruction policy against us."

KON-MED co-chair Engin Sever said: "This conference has a clear stance against the ban on the PKK. The German state needs to see this. The ban on the PKK stays in place to please Turkey's policies. It is necessary to stand against it."

After the speech of the co-chairs, the conference started with the election of the council. KCDK-E co-chair Yüksel Koç, greeted the delegates attending the conference.

Speaking at the conference on behalf of HDK, Ertuğrul Kürkçü said: "Öcalan is a genius who has paved the way for the process with his strategic interventions. He created the HDP and HDK with strategic view and played a very important role in the current decline of the AKP."

Kürkçü added that Abdullah Öcalan could end the AKP-MHP government, and emphasized the importance of joint struggle.

Left Party Parliamentarian Andrea Hunko stated that Germany and Europe should work to bring the ban on the PKK to an end and not become an instrument of Erdogan's policies. Hunko also protested the isolation imposed on Imrali, saying: "We will fight against it."
