KONGRA-GEL Co-Presidency issued a written statement on the 18th year anniversary of the February 15 Conspiracy targeting Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan. In its statement,KONGRA-GEL condemned the powers responsible for the conspiracy that tried to destroyed Kurdistan’s people’s hope for a free life through Leader Öcalan and emphasized that the Kurdistan people, Freedom Movement and progressive humanity would never forget the insult against Öcalan and bury this conspiracy in the dirty pages of history.

"2017 WILL BE A DECISIVE YEAR"

In its statement, KONGRA-GEL Co-presidency said "We remember and commemorate those that set their bodies on fire with the motto ‘You cannot darken our Sun’ and expressed their anger at the highest level against the international conspiracy. The first thing the international powers that want to redesign the Middle East did was to eliminate Öcalan and the PKK. Leader Apo noticed this international plan, and with his historic stance, he defeated the conspiracy.

With the paradigm changes he carried out, Leader Apo transformed the peoples of Kurdistan and the Freedom Movement. He provided alternative solutions for not only the Kurdish issue but also the fundamental social issues experienced by the region’s peoples. As a result, the ongoing revolution in Rojava and Syria has taken its place in the history of progressive humanity as the revolution of the 21st century.

Panicked by these developments and the destruction of the nation-state based system, Erdoğan formed a fascist alliance with the MHP and launched an all-out war against our people and democracy forces in order to eliminate the gains of our people and end the process of democratic development.

Erdoğan’s monist authoritarian system is de-facto in place and the public’s approval of the AKP’s constitutional changes would serve to whitewash Erdoğan’s massacres, corruption, theft and pillage. Therefore, the Erdoğan-Bahçeli alliance is considering to use direct state violence on Leader Apo.

At the current stage, 2017 will be a decisive year with regard to the fight between the front of our people's freedom and democracy struggle and the fascist coalition of Erdoğan, Bahçeli and Ergenekon. The defeat of this fascist coalition will not only bring down Erdoğan’s government but also pave the way for the destruction of the state’s century-old policy of denial and destruction. It will create the foundations of Leader Apo’s freedom, status of Kurdistan and democracy in Turkey."

"CONDITIONS FOR DEFEATING FASCISM ARE IN PLACE"

KONGRA-GEL vowed that they would enhance their struggle together with Kurdish people and their allies for the liberation of Öcalan, stressing that conditions for defeating the fascism of Erdoğan and Bahçeli are in place. KONGRA-GEL said "For this reason, massive participation in this year’s protests against the international conspiracy are of vital importance. The protests should be able to have a public impact in every country and region that they are organized."

CALL FOR PARTICIPATION IN THE STRASBOURG RALLY

Lastly, KONGRA-GEL underlined the importance of strong participation in the march and rally that will be held in Strasbourg on February 11, and called upon the people of Kurdistan and the democracy forces of Turkey to flock to Strasbourg and remind the world that Leader Öcalan is the key to democracy and freedom.
