Kurdish artists asked PM to explain his reasons for visiting Diyarbakýr

Why are you coming to Diyarbakýr, you Erdogan! What will you tell to the people of Diyarbakýr? Will you once again repeat your words ‘one state, one nation and one flag’? Are you coming here to once again underestimate our freedom-lovers people?" Kurdish artists called on Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan who will visit Diyarbakir for an electoral meeting on June 1, to answer these questions, to give a reason for his visit.

The Kurdish artists of Tigris - Euphrates Cultural Center, Cegerxwîn Culture and Art Center, Aram Tigran Conservatory, Diyarbakir Metropolitan Municipality Theatre, Youth Cultural Centre, Ergani, Bismil, Silvan and Lice cultural centers held a press conference at Tigris – Euphrates Culture and Art Center about the coming of Prime Minister R. Tayyip Erdogan to Diyarbakýr on June 1. The statement was made by Theatre Player Vural Tantekin on behalf of Kurdish artists.

Tantekin remarked that the Prime Minister decision to come to Diyarbakýr hurts the artists. Addressing directly the Prime Minister Tantekin said the followings; “Why are you coming to Diyarbakýr, you Erdogan? To give the good news of a new prison? There are no more places in the prisons now. You will come to Diyarbakýr to say what to the people? Will you once again repeat your words ‘one state, one nation and one flag’? Are you once again coming here to once again underestimate our freedom- impassioned people?

‘Erdogan left mischief and lie behind every time’

“We are saying ‘Enough now’ to Erdogan on whom there exists no trust any more.  Everyone now knows about his lies and tricks. He has tried to deceive the people for nine years but the people didn’t believe in any of his words and it's not bearable any more. The political and military operations still continue. Dead bodies are delivered to the people here. The Kurdish language, history and culture are still under repression. Therefore, we as artists say Erdogan not to come to Diyarbakýr whose people are annoyed of your politics.”

Remarking that Erdogan brought pain and tears with himself every time he came to Diyarbakýr, Tantekin said; “Erdogan left mischief and lie behind every time, he uttered threats and Diyarbakir was blockaded by police at each time. The people of Diyarbakýr want freedom and a democratic society but Erdogan deems disaster proper for the region’s people through the policies which protect the status quo, instead of basing on change.
