Kurdish Center for Human Rights condemns Turkish attacks

The Kurdish Center for Human Rights in Switzerland issued a call on everyone to side with the people of Kurdistan and against the Turkish attacks.

The Kurdish Center for Human Rights in Switzerland reminded in a written statement that “60 warplanes belonging to the Turkish state bombed 81 locations, including civilian areas, in Maxmur, Shengal, Kandil, Zap and Xakurk on the night between 14 and 15 June.”

The statement added: “Turkey is deepening its occupation of Syrian and Iraqi lands. The silence of international organisations like the UN, EU, the Organisation for Islamic Cooperation, regional states and the U.S.A. and Russia only embolden the Turkish state. The Turkish state wants to make its occupation of Rojava and southern Kurdistan (northern Iraq) permanent just like it did in Cyprus in 1974.”

The statement continued: “The bombardment carried out on Sunday night June was part of a previously drawn-up plan. The head of the Turkish Intelligence Organization, Hakan Fidan, secretly visited Iraq on 11 June where he discussed the attack with both the Federal government and the Kurdistan Regional Government. Both governments are yet to say anything about the attack.”

The Kurdish Center for Human Rights added: “We believe that the International Coalition Against ISIS and Russia were both informed before the attack. Their silence and the fact that they did not object to the use of Iraqi airspace means that they approve of the attack.”

The statement ended with a call to “everyone to side with the people of Kurdistan and against the Turkish attacks.”
