According to reports coming through, 45 people have been taken into custody as a result of harsh police intervention on a group of Kurdish demonstrators who have occupied the European Council building in Strasbourg city of France. While some of the demonstrators have been wounded, journalists at the scene are also reported to have been subjected to police violence.
Giving information to ANF about the protest, one of the demonstrators stated that the act was staged to protest the silence of European Council about the isolation imposed on Öcalan by the Turkish state for six months.
On 15 February, at the anniversary of the capture of PKK (Kurdistan Workers Party) Leader Abdullah Öcalan as a result of an international conspiracy on 15 February 1999, a group of Kurdish young demonstrators occupied the European Union Office in Berlin. The protest of the group was intervened by German police who took 15 demonstrations into custody to end the act. Detainees were released after police opened an investigation against demonstrators on the grounds of occupying a public sphere.
