Kurdish people responded to PM by joining Friday Prayers
Kurdish people responded to Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoðan's remarks by taking part to the Friday Civil Prayers. They joined the prayers in their thousands in various cities.
Peace and Democracy Party (BDP) executives, Labor, Democracy and Freedom Block’s candidates, including Leyla Zana in Diyarbakýr, representatives and members from many NGOs attended the prayers. The sermons in the Democratic Solution Tents were in Kurdish.
In the sermons the first demand was peace while strong was the condemnation of the government's policy.
Muslims also held funeral prayers and religious ceremonies for the 10 Kurdish guerrillas who lost their life on 13 and 14 May.
“We are praying for peace and friendship of all people in Turkey. We could not be called Muslim should we practice or support discrimination and suffering against people. People are equals, every individual bear the same rights and so do languages. The Kurdish guerrillas who lost their life in the countryside of Þýrnak are our children. Let’s send our sincere condolences to their families,” said Imams during the sermons.
In Mersin, women also took part in the Friday Prayers.
Support messages also came from prisoners in Ýzmir 2nd F Type Prison.
Prayers took place in Diyarbakýr and its neighbourhoods (Silvan, Bismil and Ergani), Hakkari and its neighbourhood (Yüksekova), Ýstanbul and its neighbourhoods (Aksaray, Sultanbeyli and Baðcýlar), Urfa and its neighbourhoods (Viranþehir, Ceylanpýnar and Suruç); Mersin and its central neighbourhood of Akdeniz; Batman and its neighbourhood Kozluk; Adana’s central neighbourhood Seyhan; Þýrnak and its neighbourhoods Cizre, Silopi, Ýdil and Beytüþþebap; Siirt and its neighbourhood Kurtalan; Mardin and its neighbourhoods Nusaybin, Kýzýltepe and Derik; Antep; Van and its neighbourhoods Erciþ and Baþkale; Aðrý’s neighbourhoods Patnos and Doðubayazýt; Muþ and its neighbourhoods Bulanýk, Malazgirt and Varto; Bitlis’s neighbourhood Tatvan; Ýzmir’s neighbourhood Gaziemir; Aydýn center; Antalya’s neighbourhood Kepez; Manisa center and its neighbourhood Turgutlu.
