65 MPs including Jeremy Corbyn attended the award ceremony for successful Kurds in the UK held annually as part of the Newroz reception in the Parliament. 7 members of the House of Lords, various mayors and hundreds of guests also attended the ceremony.

The Newroz reception is organized by London-based Centre for Kurdish Progress, European Kurdish Employers Union and the Kurdish Popular Assembly Britain.

Labour Party’s leader Jeremy Corbyn presented Kurdish Popular Assembly Britain Co-chair Besime Basar with an achievement award.

Besime Basar spoke briefly in the ceremony and said the Kurdish Popular Assembly Britain has completed important works in all areas, and that she accepted the award for all her colleagues. Basar added that it is a great source of pride to see Kurds in the UK engaging in influential works in all areas of life in the UK.”
