A student in Muðla was shot by police and fascists, who launched an assault against Kurdish students. The police responded in a very heavy way to Kurdish students protesting on Wednesday evening and detained almost a 100 students, many of whom were injured. The police operation was targeting the Kurdish and democratic students and was carried out while a group of around a 1500 people shouted the Turkish national anthem and slogans against PKK and Kurds at midnight.
In Muðla nearly 1500 people took to the streets in the early hours of this morning shouting slogans like “Down the PKK”, “We are Turks, strong and Kemalist”. With Turkish flags in their hands, the fascists went along the street shouting and chanting.
The police and gendarmerie called to Muðla from Denizli and other near cities stood and watched the demonstration. A guy apparently named Ali Haydar, identified as one of the provocateurs held a bold speech.
Following the assault on a Kurdish student called Þerzan Kurt, 200 students again took to the streets on Wednesday evening. The police detained around 100 students.
The demonstration took place at 22:00 p.m at Kötekli District, where the university is. Police in full combat gear attacked the students which reacted to the pepper gas by throwing stones. After the pepper gas was thrown, the group split in two smaller groups and was dispersed. The students meanwhile set rubbish bin ablaze and closed the way to the traffic. After the one-hour clash around 100 protestor students were detained and 10 students were injured.
