Kurdish young people demand freedom for Abdullah Öcalan

In Hanover, the Kurdish youth movement protested with a spontaneous demonstration in the city center for the freedom of Abdullah Öcalan.

Slogans such as "Long live President Apo" and "Thousand greetings to Imrali" echoed through the Hanover train station on Tuesday when activists of the Kurdish youth movement gathered for a spontaneous demonstration to draw attention to the total isolation of Kurdish people's leader Abdullah Öcalan and to demand his release.

For 29 months there has been no sign of life from the prison island of Imrali, where Öcalan and his three fellow prisoners are being held.

Activists tried to march through the center of Hanover, but the police surrounded the activists, only to quickly let them through.

The demonstration passed loudly through the streets of the city. Leaflets were distributed during the event.

At the final rally, the activists announced that they would take to the streets until Abdullah Öcalan is free and called for people to unite in the demand to free Öcalan.
