Kurdish youth began a Long March in Germany today to protest Öcalan’s isolation and the occupation of Rojava.

The Long March of Kurdish youth, held annually before the Kurdish Culture Festival, begins today with the motto “We rise up against occupation and for the Leader’s freedom.” The march began today at 10:00 in front of the Democratic Kurdish Society Center (DKSC) building in Duisburg and will end at the 24th International Kurdish Culture Festival in Cologne on September 3. The youth is protesting the isolation of Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan, which has intensified since April 5, 2015, will be dedicated to those that have lost their lives during the self-administration resistance.

MARCH ROUTES

Led by the Free Youth and Free Young Women, the Long March will last 3 days and cover a distance of 110 kms. The youth will march from the Duisburg DKSC to the Düsseldorf DKSC on the first day, from Düsseldorf to Grevenbroich on the second day, and from Grevenbroich to Leverkusen on the last day. At the end, the protesters will participate in the 24th International Kurdish Culture Festival to be held in Cologne on September 3.

CALL FOR PARTICIPATION

The Organizing Committee called upon young people to participate in the march, which began today in Duisburg at 10:00, in order to resist for the freedom of Öcalan, protest the Turkish state’s occupation of Rojava, and support the self-administration resistance.
