French journalist Olivier Piot and photographer Julien Goldstein’s book “Kurdistan, anger of a people without rights”, prefaced by French ambassador Bernard Dorin, will appear on shelves as of January 5th.
The most complicated problem of the Middle East is addressed in a 256-page book which has been written in a process dominated by Turkish state’s suppression on all demands of Kurds who are intended to be left without a status.
The book, with the original name "Kurdistan, la colère d’un peuple sans droits", consists of five color maps and over 60 photographs taken during journeys in Kurdistan. Witnessing the Daily life of Kurds, the book also consists of portraits as to the life of villagers and the reality and struggle of the Kurdish people.
Author Olivier Piot put his signature under remarkable books such as the Tunisian Revolution (Révolution tunisienne) which was released in 2011 and the Extreme Left (l'Extrème gauche) in 2008.
Photographer Julien Goldstein, whose photographs regularly appear in French and the international media, was rewarded by Lagardère Foundation in 2009 for the Kurdistan Project he run.
Both French writers walked through Kurdistan to understand the reality of Kurds better. They witnessed the daily life, economic and political problems of Kurds and many different kinds of discriminations and denials they were exposed to.
Piot and Goldstein reveal the present geopolitical situation of Kurds in the light of interviews they made and evidences they collected.
With a documentary project in October 2010, Piot and Goldstein told of the Kurdish people over photographs, maps, voices and videos.
