Kurds attacked in Strasbourg, arrests and wounded

Police have attacked Kurdish people who have occupied the office of the Committee for the Prevention of Torture (CPT) in Strasbourg. The Kurds were protesting at the latest wave of arrests which yesterday has brought nearly 100 people (included some 48 lawyers) behind bars in Turkey. The people were arrested in the context of the so called KCK (Kurdish Communities Union) operation.

Today around 200 people have occupied the CPT but the French police reacted violently to the demonstration and arrested dozens, while wounding many others. Many of the wounded people had to go to hospital.

At least 30 people have been detained.
