The Liverpool Kurdish People's Assembly organized this year's 15 August celebrations on Snowdon, the highest mountain in Wales and Britain.
The participation of Kurdish young people and women in the 15 August march and celebration, which also included the Revolutionary Youth Movement, drew attention as the participants in the event wore 'guerrilla' costumes.
Carrying banners of Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan and KCK flags, the Kurds started the 15 August march accompanied by slogans.
At the summit, a banner reading “Bijî 15 Tebax” with photos of Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan and ARGK’s legendary Commander Mahsum Korkmaz (Agit), the Kurds celebrated this important day. On 15 August 1984, in fact, the PKK fired the first shot, and this is considered the beginning of the armed struggle.
Eylem Nemir spoke on behalf of the Liverpool Kurdish People’s Assembly. She saluted 15 of August and said: "The liberation struggle that started with the first bullet to the present day has turned into a great torch of freedom in four parts of Kurdistan today. The spirit of 15th of August is the name of resistance against genocide, standing up against betrayal, revolutionary honorable life.
The heroic Kurdistan guerrilla is showing the most heroic resistance in history today against the occupier, the collaborator, the genocidal fascism. We salute the guerrillas who granted us this spirit of resistance and honorable life and wish a happy 15 August to all our people."
Following the announcement, Kurds danced on the summit of Mount Snowdon.
