Kurds in Armenia protest for Öcalan

Kurds in Armenia announced that they would stage protests until the situation of Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan is clarified.

Kurds living in the Elegez region of Armenia made a press statement to voice their concerns over the situation of Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan after the rumours on social media which claimed he had died in prison.

"We are the people of the Leader. The Leader is our red line and nobody should test us. The Kurds know what the Leader means," the activists said.

The Kurdish activists called on the UN, European countries, human rights organizations and the CPT to take responsibility, adding, "Our protests will continue until the situation of the Leader is clarified."

Speaking here, Kurdistan Committee Coordination Member Yurik Davoyan appealed to the people living in Armenia and said, "We are holding a march and rally in Yerevan city center on March 19 for our Leader. We will meet at 12.00 in Opera Square."
