Kurds in Europe continue to protest the Turkish war in South Kurdistan

Following the calls for immediate actions, the Kurdish people living in Europe are continuing to stage protests against the Turkish offensive in southern Kurdistan (northern Iraq).

Kurds and their friends continue their protests across Europe against the Turkish incursion into South Kurdistan, launched on April 17 in cooperation with the KDP, and Turkish use of toxic gas during the ongoing invasion operation in the guerrilla-held Medya Defense Zones.

THE HAGUE

In The Hague, the Netherlands, activists staged a protest in front of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW), which investigates the use of chemical weapons. The protestors urged the OPCW to step into action against Turkey’s acts that constitute a crime. The guerrilla resistance was praised by the activists, while the KDP betrayal and Turkish invasion operation was condemned. The protestors often chanted the slogans "Bijî berxwedana gerila" (Long live the guerrilla resistance) and "Bimre xiyanet" (Death to betrayal).

PARIS/DRANCY

Hundreds of Kurds gathered at the Democratic Kurdish Community Centre in the Drancy suburb of Paris, France, following the call of the Zîn Women's Council. The protestors staged a march with the posters of Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan and PKK flags, and a banner reading "Defend Kurdistan against invasion and treason".

During the march, slogans such as "Bimre xiyanet", "Murderer-dictator Erdoğan", "Bijî berxwedana gerila" were often chanted. The activists halted the march in front of the Drancy Municipality building. The Co-Chair of Drancy Democratic Kurdish Community Centre delivered a speech, emphasizing that the attacks in Kurdistan targeted the Kurdish existence, and therefore the Kurds should take responsibility in every way they can and unite around the guerrilla forces.

“These attacks are an operation to re-occupy Kurdistan. However, these fascist attacks will be frustrated by our people,” the Co-Chair said, adding that the Kurds would continue organizing protests every evening.

HELSINKI

Kurds living in Finland and their friends came together following the calls for immediate actions to denounce the Turkish attacks on Kurdistan in cooperation with the KDP.

The protestors came together at the Helsinki train station square at 22:00 local time and condemned the KDP's cooperation with Turkey.

MONTPELLIER

In Montpellier, France, activists protested against the Turkish invasion operation in South Kurdistan and the use of toxic gas in the attacks.

Protestors gathered at the Comedie Square in the evening and stated, “We are going through a historic process. Our people must be ready in every sense. We will resist the enemy no matter the consequences. Our actions will continue uninterrupted.”
