Kürkçü: investigation commission needed for welfare of prisoners

BDP (Peace and Democracy Party) Mersin MP Ertuðrul Kürkçü has put forward the proposal for the creation of an investigation commission within the Grand National Assembly of Turkey in order to prevent human rights violations, torture and degrading treatments in prisons and to establish the situation of the victims. Kürkçü listed possible complaints which need investigated: "Undressing of the prisoners upon arrival, forced body search, physical force exceeding the purposes of search, provocation and threats. Preventing delivery of publications in Kurdish and prisoners to pay for translations."

Kürkçü added it is a physical and psychological torture to keep prisoners charged sentenced to life in solitary confinement 23 hours a day.
