Kürkçü: Prime Minister is calling everyone to join his war

BDP MP for Mersin Ertuðrul Kürkçü said that “The Prime Minister is urging everyone to war. The prime minister now began to speak the language of Tansu Çiller and he found generals obeying him.”

Making a press conference at BDP Mersin building with BDP MYK member Mustafa Avcý, Kürkçü remarked that military operations led to a conflict environment in the past, noting that the same effect would be seen today as well.

Kürkçü said that “The Prime Minister is calling everyone to engage in the fight but he does not explain the causes of that fight. And to those who call it war, he says that this is an ‘operation to suppress terror, not war’. Nowhere else in the world is an operation launched with 10 thousand soldiers to suppress terror. Just like in the period of former Prime Minister Çiller, generals are again establishing a military framework for the government's adventurous orders and vain desires. Not only Turkish soldiers but also Kurdish guerrillas will lose their lives as a result of this operation. However, not any result will be obtained from this operation, as happened in the past. The operation will only leave an enormous loss of military capacity and lives.”

Kürkçü remarked that the BDP had decided to return to the Parliament to "be a party to the constitutional debates and to bring up the peace alternative instead of pursuing an environment of war", adding; “Unfortunately, the Picture we face in parliament is quite tragic. The first decision made by the Parliament was to approve the memorandum for sending soldiers across the border.”

Kürkçü also criticized Erdoðan's 'secret' meeting with media bosses and editors in chief and stated that the Prime Minister interfered in a light way into the media making them feel that they could be suffered economically. “That meeting was held to convince the entire media to broadcast in accordance with the AKP's political and military perspective” said Kürkçü and noted that media members who live with the fear of being suppressed, wiretapped or exposed in this case could possibly accept Erdoðan’s demand.

Referring to Prime Minister Erdoðan's call to the BDP grassroots after the attacks in Hakkari, Kürkçü said that “Unlike other prime ministers, Erdoðan is more aggressive. He threatens not only politicians but also the people. Nowhere in the world does a prime minister blame his people for the votes they give. I do not think that the BDP voters might step back. We held meetings of People's Congress which were attended by representatives of all the peoples in Turkey. They gave support to a people who are left alone. Turkey is changing. It will be a country of peace and democracy, not soldier and war. Those dying children deserve to live in a free country, not to die. The weather is clear on our side, despite the war and political slaughter.”
