Kýþanak: did the PM knew before hand of Zana's house search

Peace and Democracy Party (BDP) co-chair and Siirt MP Gültan Kýþanak criticized the house raids and arrests launched earlier today in many cities across the country.

Kýþanak particularly underlined the raid of the Ankara house of Diyarbakýr deputy Leyla Zana. Police broke the door to get into Zana’s home as nobody was at home.

“Prime Minister Erdoðan follows the steps of Hitler. - said in a strong comment the BDP co-chair - Our people and everyone who considers her/himself a democrat should make their voices heard and condemn these methods. I believe - she added - that Erdoðan targeted Leyla Zana. The search of her house might as well be within the knowledge of PM Erdoðan and Interior Minister".

Lami Özgen, President of the Confederation of Civil Servants Trade Unions (KESK), criticized the raids and said; “The government tries to delegitimise our organization and we will ever allow it.”

According to information, police came to the KESK Central Office with the excuse to search worker Ýsmet Arslan’s room and then searched the whole building. Police confiscated Arslan’s computer and left the building after resistance of KESK executives against police.

KESK Secretary General Ýsmail Hakký Tombul also condemned the police attempt to search the entire building: “We are a confederation with 250,000 members. - he said - To search the entire building is not legal even they have permission. We are a legal power and they wanted to ban us in the eyes of public.”

Lawyer Nuri Özmen pointed out that police raid on the deceased former HEP deputy Orhan Doðan’s house is unlawful. Özmen did not sign the search report shown by the police who seized computers and CD’s in the late former MP house in Ankara.

BDP Co-Chair Selahattin Demirtaþ arrived to the BDP Diyarbakýr Branch Building to witness the police search.
