According to the Turkish Ministry of Health, the total number of deaths in the corona pandemic has increased to 3,336. A total of 124,375 cases of infection are known.
A crisis management team set up by civil society organisations, trade unions, the HDP, the women's movement TJA and the ecology movement at the beginning of the coronavirus criticises in a recent statement the lack of transparency of the authorities in the fight against the pandemic. According to the regional COVID-19 crisis team, the government is congratulating itself in the face of falling case numbers, but this success is due to the medical staff.
"There is no transparency in crisis management, the test capacities in the individual provinces are unknown, all forms of solidarity are strictly suppressed and every opposition voice is silenced. The entire public can testify that the government is making a boundless self-praise to be celebrated for matters that are already part of its routine tasks and to make a profit for the AKP," the statement says.
The crisis team further criticises that civil society organisations including local medical chambers and health unions in the Kurdish areas are not involved in the pandemic committees and therefore no information on the course of the pandemic is available.
