Latest in Raqqa: 46 more civilians rescued amid clashes

As the Raqqa campaign nears the end, SDF fighters have rescued 46 more civilians in city centre and destroyed a bomb laden vehicle of the gangs.

Clashes between Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and ISIS continue in Nahda, al-Barid, Hurriyah and Kurdan neighborhoods and around Weteni Hospital in Raqqa city centre. SDF fighters are making further advances in these areas, delivering heavy blows to the gangs.

Trapped in the mentioned neighborhoods, the gangs make repeated attempts to break the siege yet their attacks are repelled by the SDF.

In Nahda neighbourhood, the gangs attempted to hit SDF fighters with a bomb laden vehicle which was destroyed by the fighters before reaching its destination.

On the other hand, SDF fighters continue to rescue civilians whom ISIS gangs are using as human shields. Special units formed by the SDF to free the inhabitants of the city have rescued 46 civilians in Nahda neighbourhood today.

A total of 176 civilians have been freed and transferred to safe areas during the past two days. Two SDF fighters have fallen martyrs in clashes during rescue missions.

Operation Wrath of Euphrates Spokesperson Cihan Sheikh Ehmed announced yesterday that liberation of the Raqqa city from ISIS was near.
