Lavrio commemorates Resistance of Sur and Qamishlo massacre

Kurdish refugees attended the memorial ceremony held at the camp on Friday evening.

A commemoration ceremony was held for victims of the Qamishlo massacre and for those who died in the Sur resistance in the Kurdish refugee camp of Lavrio, in Greece.

Kurdish refugees attended the memorial ceremony held at the camp on Friday evening. Candles were lit in front of the photographs of commander Çiyager who died in the resistance of Sur and those who died in the Qamishlo massacre.

The commemoration ceremony started with a minute's silence for those who lost their lives. 

Welat Dikmen, member of Revolutionary Youth Movement (Tevgera Ciwanên Şoreşger), paid tribute to those who lost their lives in a short speech about the Qamishlo massacre and the Sur resistance.

Dikmen emphasized that "it is necessary to keep the martyrs alive in every moment of life and never forget."

Civan Resul and Nurettin Ahmet, who were in Qamishlo in 2004, talked about the days of the massacre. 

After the speeches, Martyr Çiyager, who died in the Sur resistance, was commemorated. The text of a youth who was among the young people resisting against in Sur was read. The text talked about Martyr Çiyager and remembered the famous phrase he pronounced, "The end will be spectacular".

The commemoration ended with the screening of a video about Qamishlo and commander Çiyager.
