Human rights defender and lawyer Xalid Omer stated that the international conspiracy and isolation against Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan was frustrated by the resistance of the people.

Stating that the philosophy of Abdullah Öcalan has been adopted in many parts of the world, Xalid Omer said: "Despite the harsh conditions in Imrali Prison, Leader Öcalan has stood firm until today. Our people also took their resistance from the Leader and will be in action until they reach their goals.”

Omer continued: When the occupying Turkish state saw that this conspiracy did not work, it decided to continue the conspiracy in a new dimension in order to break the will, struggle and resistance of the people. As a result, the heavy isolation against the leader was put into effect. This isolation, which amounts to torture, has no legal basis. According to Turkish and international laws, every prisoner has the right to meet with his lawyer and family. In addition, health committees are supposed to evaluate the health condition of the leader from time to time, but so far no information has been obtained about his health condition. Although the CPT has visited İmralı Prison, it has not published any report on the condition of the leader.

Today we see that Leader Öcalan’s ideas have spread throughout the Middle East and millions of people support his ideas. It is the responsibility of all human rights defenders to fight for the physical freedom of Leader Öcalan and we, as the Syrian lawyers' initiative, will do our part to protect him. We will continue our actions to this end."
