Lawyers call for abolition of special courts

Contemporary Lawyers’ Association (ÇHD) Ýzmir Branch has announced a campaign launched across the country for the abolition of ‘Special Authorized Courts’.

In a press statement of Association member lawyers in front of Ýzmir Court, ÇHD Ýzmir Branch Board Member Nergiz Tuba Aslan pointed out that the ‘terror special trial’ in Turkey was increasing more and more day by day. “We are taking a step now with an aim to end this unlawfulness. They have arrested our students who demanded equal, free and mother-tongue education, protestors of hydroelectric power plants and lawyers who defend Kurds, the oppressed and opponents.”, underlined the statement and noted that this campaign was Turkey’s struggle for a future.

Aslan ended her speech calling on all lawyers to support the campaign which demanded an end to Special Judgment Courts, the anti-terror law and anti-democratic articles of laws.
