"We, as KCDK-E, invite our people and friends to join the Newroz celebrations which will be held in all European cities in March. Let's light the Newroz fire of rebellion against dictators and oppressors."
The European Kurdish Democratic Society Congress (KCDK-E) co-presidency issued a written statement to mark Newroz, the Kurdish New Year.
“The Newroz fire that was first lit by Blacksmith Kawa, was followed by the modern Kawa, Mazlum Doğan, who further intensified the resistance. - said the statement - Zekiye Alkan, Berivan, Ronahi turned their bodies into the Newroz fire and spread the resistance of Kurdish people for freedom and against assimilation to the whole Kurdistan.”
The statement added: “This year's Newroz will open the year of freedom for Leader Apo, of the growing resistance against today’s Dehak, dictator Erdoğan and the AKP-MHP fascist alliance.
We are entering Newroz at a time when the new Dehak, Erdoğan and the AKP-MHP intensify their repression. In order to imprison our people in medieval darkness, they are attacking Kurds with every possible means. They are trying to silence working people, intellectuals, democrats, the opposition.”
The AKP-MHP alliance, added the statement “is attacking our people and party knowing that they will be defeated in the [31 March] elections. Peoples want freedom and democracy.”
The statement continued: “By embracing the hunger strike resistance led by Leyla Güven against these policies of colonialism, together, we will liberate Leader Apo.
This year’s Newroz will be celebrated under the slogan ‘Let's break isolation, destroy fascism, free Kurdistan’. The hunger strike resistance will bring isolation to an end.
Our Newroz events in all European countries will continue throughout March. We, as KCDK-E, invite our people and friends to join the Newroz celebrations which will be held in all European cities in March. Let's light the Newroz fire of rebellion against dictators and oppressors.
Let us embrace the hunger strike led by Leyla Güven with the spirit of resistance. Let's break the isolation imposed on Leader Apo.
Leyla Güven is the symbol of the hunger strike resistance and Zülküf Gezen is the symbol of Newroz. After 12 years in prison comrade Zülküf returned to the land.”
The KCDK-E reminded everyone that the main Newroz festival will take place on Saturday 23 March in Frankfurt.
