The trial of Leyla Zana, who was sued for allegedly making propaganda of the PKK (Kurdistan Workers' Party) at her speech during Newroz celebrations in Diyarbakýr in 2007, continued at Diyarbakir 6th High Criminal Court.
While Leyla Zana didn't attend the hearing, the public prosecutor, repeating his comment at the former trial, defended that Zana's speech cannot be judged within the scope of freedom of expression .
Zana's lawyer Fethi Gümüþ, remarking that his client has been elected as an independent candidate, stated that Zana's mandate will be presented to the court when she gets it.
The trial, demanding up to five years imprisonment to Zana, was suspended to a forward date for the correction of the deficiencies.
