The London Cycling Club members rode for Green Left Party and also protested the police political operations carried out by the Turkish state on Tuesday.
The British Green Left Women's Volunteers and the London Cycling Club organized a bicycle convoy in North London to campaign for the Green Left Party. Gathering at the British Alevi Federation premises, the women adorned their bikes with Green Left Party banners whistling and chanting "Vote for the Green Left Party".
The last stop of the Bicycle Convoy was Edmonton Green Center, where a press release was made to condemn the Turkish state's political genocide attacks targeting over 150 people in Amed and other cities. Bedriye Avcil drew attention to the fact that the AKP-MHP regime knows it will lose the elections, and resorts to all methods to "win". The statement said: "The army, the police and the judiciary are trying to eliminate all forces in favor of labor and freedom through detention and arrests."
Around 150 human rights defenders, including lawyers, Green Left Party volunteers, journalists, artists and intellectuals were detained in 21 cities on Tuesday. Avcil said: “These operations are an attack on our will. This is an attack on the very security of the election. We call on solidarity and support for the labor and freedom movement that resists all kinds of oppression and attacks in Turkey and Kurdistan.”
