The Long March carried out under the leadership of Kurdish youth continues in Switzerland. The activists expressed their solidarity with the guerrilla struggle against the Turkish occupation and KDP betrayal.
The Swiss branch of the long marches launched in 9 centres as part of the "Werin Cenga Azadiyê" [Come to the freedom offensive] campaign started on the 2nd day from Biel, Switzerland under the leadership of Kurdish youth organizations Tevgera Ciwanên Şoreşger (TCŞ) and Jinên Ciwan ên Têkoşer (TekoJIN). The young activists who had started their march with a press statement in the city of Solothurn yesterday completed the first day of the demonstration in the city of Grenchen.
'WE SHOULD FIGHT LIKE GUERILLAS'
The young activists resumed their march today from the city of Biel after a gathering at Zentralplatz early in the morning. Today’s stage of the demonstration started after a moment of silence for all those who were martyred in the Kurdistan Freedom Struggle.
In a statement on behalf of TCŞ and Teko-Jin, activist Andrea condemned the Turkish state's chemical attacks on the Kurdish guerrillas in cooperation with the KDP. “Now that the PKK guerrillas confronting barbarian attacks all over Kurdistan do not take a step back from this struggle, it is the duty of the Kurdish youth to endorse the struggle of the guerrillas. The Kurdish youth, wherever they are, embrace this struggle and become the voice of PKK guerrillas by continuing their protests against the invading forces and their partners. We will defeat occupation and betrayal by crowning the 'Werin Cenga Azadi' campaign with victory,” the statement said.
'WE WILL CONTINUE OUR PROTESTS’
The statement denounced the dirty negotiations between NATO and Turkey regarding the future of the Kurdish people and Kurdistan. Remarking that dirty negotiations revolved around Sweden’s and Finland’s NATO bids, it continued, “We will continue protesting in the streets against the intended annihilation of the Kurdish people and Kurdistan through dirty negotiations. Just as the young Kurdish men and women endorse the freedom paradigm of our leader resisting against all kinds of inhuman attacks, we will defend this resistance based on Kurdish leader Öcalan's line of resistance.”
Yadê Zeliş, mother of Berjîn Zenda (Ayşe Demir) who was martyred in an attack by the Turkish army near the village of Kêste in Heftanîn on July 7, 2021, is also participating in the march.
SIGNATURES COLLECTED, LEAFLETS DISTRIBUTED
The activists protested the Turkish attacks and its partners by chanting slogans in the city centre. Wearing white aprons with the inscription "Warin Cenga Azadi" to protest Turkey’s use of chemicals, the activists collected signatures along their route as part of the international campaign for the removal of the PKK from the list of terrorist organizations. During the march, leaflets providing information on the latest situation in Kurdistan were distributed by Teko-Jin and TCŞ activists.
A series of forums and seminars about the role of the Kurdish youth in the face of the current process were organised in the middle of the day and during the breaks.
The young activists will finish the second day of their march in the city of Lyss in the evening.
