Long March leaves Leverkusen on second day

Today is the second day of the Long March, traditionally organized every year by the European Youth Movements TCŞ and TekoJIN, demanding freedom for Kurdish people's leader Abdullah Öcalan.

The Revolutionary Youth Movement (Tevgera Ciwanên Şoreşger-TCŞ) and Women of Struggle (Jinên Têkoşer-TekoJIN) have been carrying out the "Long March" (Meşa Dirêj) action in Europe every year for more than 20 years, demanding freedom for Leader Abdullah Öcalan. The first day of the march, from Cologne to Aachen, was on Saturday.

The first day started after the young people came together at Cologne Heumarkt and made statements. During the march, young people distributed leaflets in German regarding the purpose of the action and the invasion attacks.

Along the way, the young people encountered provocations from Turkish fascists. The Kurdish youth defended themselves but were subjected to identity control by the German police.

Young people walked about 25 kilometres and ended the first day of the march in Leverkusen.
