March against isolation in front of the European Parliament

A march and a rally took place at the end of the 5th day of the mass hunger strike in front of the European Parliament to protest the isolation of Kurdish People's leader Abdullah Öcalan.

After the mass hunger strike promoted in front of the European Parliament to support the hunger strike resistance a march was held.

Hundreds of people joined the march from the European Parliament to Kléber Square in the center of Strasbourg.

Activists chanted slogans demanding freedom for Öcalan and commending the hunger strikers and in particular Leyla Güven and Nasır Yağız.

Speaking at the rally the Democratic Alevi Federation (FEDA) member Pir Rıza Yağmur underlined that the Kurdistan case is not the Alevi-Sunni issue. Emphasizing the importance of the struggle of all Kurds against the fascist-racist policies of the Turkish state, Pir Yağmur reminded people of the local elections on Sunday.

“The resistance organised to end isolation against Kurdish People's Leader is being carried out with a spirit which is the same spirit we want to see in the people going to the polls on Sunday. I am sure we will reclaim the usurped municipalities.”

Emphasizing that Öcalan is the most important leader of the Kurdish people, Pir Yağmur said: “Kurdistan will not be free until the leadership is free. In the coming period, the Kurdish people must stand up, resist and ensure the freedom of both Kurdistan and its leadership.”

Thoreau Redcrow, a conflict analyst known for his work on the Kurdish guerrilla movement, delivered a speech at the rally after the march. Redcrow, who draws attention to the long years of isolation imposed on Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan for years, emphasized that the AKP-MHP fascist mentality is the main force behind the ISIS mercenaries.

Redcrow said that isolation against Öcalan could not be accepted and drew a parallel between Öcalan and Nelson Mandela.

In the speech made on behalf of Partizan, the common struggle of the Kurds and other peoples against fascism was emphasized. The speech underlined that the Turkish state's war policies against the Kurdish people and all opposition-democratic forces will be defeated by the resistance.

The rally was informed of a new 5 days of action in front of the Council of Europe to begin today.
